Pay TV in Brazil is on the rise

According to official data provided by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), Brazil grew by 8.7% to 19.58 million pay TV subscribers at the end of 2014. Thus, it exceeded the number of members in relation to 2013 that had closed with 18,020,000 million.

Continuing its market leadership, America Movil holds the top position with more than 10.18 million subscribers, with its operators Net and Claro. The second place went to Sky (DirecTV) with 5.64 million, then Oi 1.3 million. Further back, GVT (Vivendi) with 882,000 followed by Vivo (Telefónica) with 770,000.

Undoubtedly, the Satellite TV sector is potentiated. 11.94 million households use DTH (direct reception by the viewer), Cable TV has 7.53 million subscribers, IPTV has 95,000, while penetration per household to pay TV service, according to Anatel, reached 29.84%.
