URBAN MUSIC STARS BAD BUNNY AND OZUNA TOP THE LIST OF FINALISTS FOR THE 2020 BILLBOARD LATIN MUSIC AWARDS ON TELEMUNDO

Awards show to close out LatinFest+, a three-day music experience featuring exclusive conversations with superstars like J Balvin, Rosalía, Los Tigres del Norte, and Ozuna, among others

Billboard and Telemundo announced today that urban music stars Bad Bunny and Ozuna lead the list of finalists for the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards with 14 mentions each. Highlighting the supremacy of reggaeton in recent years, with multiple nominations are also Daddy Yankee and J Balvin (12), followed by Anuel AA, (11) and Farruko (10). Honoring the best performers in Latin music, the awards will feature 59 different categories this year in the main musical genres of Latin Pop, Tropical, Latin Rhythm and Regional Mexican. The awards show will close out LatinFest+, presented by Billboard and Telemundo, a three-day immersive experience dedicated to Latin music, culture and entertainment. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, LatinFest+, formerly known as Billboard Latin Music Week, will include superstar conversations, workshops, live concerts, fan experiences, and will feature artists such as J Balvin, Rosalía, Los Tigres del Norte, and Ozuna, among many others.

The most prestigious and longest-running awards in Latin music will be broadcast live on Telemundo from Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday, April 23, 2020. The program will also broadcast simultaneously on Spanish entertainment cable network, Universo and throughout the Americas on Telemundo Internacional.

The list of 65 finalists reveals a diverse group of artists vying for a distinction in multiple categories ranging from Top Latin Album of the Year; Artist of the Year and Hot Latin Song of the Year to Tour of the Year and Composer of the Year. Also presented during the program will be Billboard’s prestigious discretionary awards such as the Spirit of Hope award, the Hall of Fame award and the Lifetime Achievement award, which will be announced at a later date. Past honorees include Gloria Estefan, Alejandro Fernández, Andrea Bocelli and Carlos Santana, among others.

Ozuna and Bad Bunny, renowned figures of reggaeton and Latin trap, respectively, will compete for Artist of the Year along with J Balvin and Romeo Santos. The Puerto Rican artists also vie for Hot Latin Song of the Year:  Bad Bunny and Tainy for “Callaita;” Ozuna, Anuel AA, Sech, Darell and Nicky Jam for “Otro Trago;” Pedro Capó & Farruko for “Calma;” and Daddy Yankee with Snow for “Con Calma.”

Other highly contested categories include Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Solo in which Enrique Iglesias, Luis Fonsi, Sebastian Yatra, and Shakira compete; while stars Juan Luis Guerra, Marc Anthony,  Prince Royce and Romeo Santos vie for Tropical Artist of the Year, Solo, and Christian Nodal, El Fantasma, Lenin Ramirez and Raymix contend for Mexican Regional Artist of the Year, Solo.

Two-time finalists include Banda Los Sebastianes de Mazatlan Sinaloa, CNCO, DJ Snake, Maluma, Natti Natasha, Sebastian Yatra, Shakira, and T3r Elemento. Up for one award are Chayanne, Danny Ocean, Dimelo Flow, Drake, El Fantasma, El Guincho, Enrique Iglesias, Fuerza Regida, Gente de Zona, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Herencia de Patrones, Jennifer Lopez, Jhay Cortez, Jowell & Randy, Juan Luis Guerra, Katy Perry, Lali, La Sonora Dinamita, Lenin Ramirez, Mambo Kingz, Maná, Manuel Turizo, Mau & Ricky, Monchy & Alexandra, Natalia Lafourcade, Paulo Londra, Prince Royce, Raymix, Reik, Silvestre Dangond, Victor Manuelle, and

Zion & Lennox.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards is the only awards show to honor the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music, as determined by the actual sales, streaming, radio airplay and social data that informs Billboard’s weekly charts during a one-year period from the rankings dated February 2, 2019 through this year’s January 25 charts.
