J Balvin was honored as a World Icon

With a video that made a tour of the Colombian singer J Balvin from its beginnings to the present, an introduction was made to the act that the reggaetonero would present with a medley because they would give him the World Icon Award.

At the same time, on a stage with a table, chairs and dancers dressed in white, the Colombian began singing the first single from the album Colores, “Blanco”. The song was interrupted and the dancers took off their outfits to move on to a purple one.

The table also transformed from that color and “Morado” started to sound as soon as the lights changed and when the singer rose in a chair. Once again the rhythm changed and “Loco Contigo” began to sound, where they loaded the performer, and changed the stage. Then Jhay Cortez appeared with a yellow outfit to accompany Balvin in his rendition of “No me Conoce.”

At the conclusion of the presentation, Daddy Yankee gave J Balvin his prize, but not before dedicating some affectionate words.

“Last year you had the honor of giving me an award with a lot of respect. The same respect that I want the world to know that I feel for you, hardworking kid, disciplined, dedicated to your career and comes from a country that I love very much, Colombia,” Daddy Yankee expressed fondly.

“The purpose of a leader is always to create new leaders, I am very proud of you. And glad we sacrificed so much, you are now flying high, so keep breaking little brother, I’m very proud of you. So from icon to world icon, much respect, you deserve it,” he said.

In the midst of his great emotion, the Colombian said “Receiving this from an icon as big as you, and without a doubt Daddy Yankee is one of the people who has inspired me to be what I am today, if it were not for the inspiration he has given me, I would not be here, so a round of applause for Daddy Yankee,” said the Colombian and also grateful to other colleagues, said “And for all the artists who have inspired me, Nicky I love you too, truly much respect. The Cangris who also always inspired me, Wisin, Yandel, Don Omar and Tego, to all thanks for the inspiration. I do not feel an icon, but I do feel like a great dreamer and I dedicate this award to Colombia,” he exclaimed.

Alejandro Fernández and Raphael were honored at the awards. Alejandro Fernández dressed as a charro and interpreted “Te Olvidé” before receiving his statuette. Raphael joined David Bisbal in singing “Qué Sabe Nadie?”. The moment Bisbal left, Glora Trevi appeared to interpret “No Vuelvas.” And when she left the scene, “Escándalo” began to sound, minutes later both singers returned for the end of the song.

Among the most anticipated presentations were that of Sebastián Yatra and Manuel Turizo, Thalía, Pitbull with John Travolta, Daddy Yankee with Nicky Jam, Carlos Rivera, Becky G and Pedro Capó.
