‘Néboa’. RTVE’s success at the L.A. Virtual Screenings

Series/Events

The RTVE series has been one of the most viewed content at the Virtual Screenings 2020, the digital market organized from May 12 to 21 by Prensario International, in association with NATPE and Events TM, to replace the traditional, canceled L.A. Screenings by the Covid-19 crisis.

The contents in the space assigned to RTVE during the event brought together a large number of buyers during the market’s 10 days: nearly 100 buyers from more than 80 companies from 30 countries around the world have visited until now the RTVE site to get closer to these contents.

‘Néboa’ is an eight-episode thriller starring Emma Suárez and Isabel Naveira that tells the past story of Mónica and Carmela, two Civil Guard investigators, to avoid a series of murders during the celebration of the Galician carnival on an island in the Galicia coast.

‘Néboa’

On the first night of carnival on the island of Néboa, the corpse of a teenage girl appears in O Burato do Demo, a place surrounded by legends: in that same cave, bodies had been murdered in the same way, in 1919 and 1989. Both times, these crimes started a series of five murders during the eight days of carnival. Assassinations that were never solved.

The popular belief is that the murderer is the “urco”, a man with a wolf’s head who comes out of the sea surrounded by chains to take the living and who, at the same time, is one of the representative figures of the entroido of Néboa. Who has been committing murders for more than 100 years?

‘Promesas de Arena’ has been another of the fictions of RTVE that has also interested buyers registered in this virtual market. Based on the novel of the same name by Laura Garzón, it is a series of adventures and love to the limit set in Libya starring Andrea Duro, Daniel Grao, and Francesco Arca. It is also a recognition of the work of NGO volunteers who work in conflict zones. In this case, the action reproduces the work in a field hospital in Libya, in addition to addressing the problem of arms trafficking. The filming took place in natural settings, in the port city of Sfax and the oasis of Tozeur (Tunisia).

In addition to these two series, RTVE also presented three others of its latest most successful productions in Spain: ‘La Caza. Monteperdido’, ‘Malaka’ and the third season of  ‘Estoy Vivo.’
