For the 11th consecutive year, Globo is in the running for the International Emmy. In the 43rd edition of the main award show of the television world, the broadcaster was nominated in three categories. \u2018Sweet Mother\u2019 from 2014, written by Jorge Furtado and under the general direction of Guel Arraes, is nominated for the \u2018Best Comedy\u2019 award. The series is a co-production of Globo and Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre, an independent production company. For her performance in the role of Dona Picucha, actress Fernanda Montenegro was once again nominated in the \u2018Best Actress\u2019 category. In 2013, Fernanda took home the Award for the same role in the special shown in 2012, which gave rise to the series of the same name. Globo is also in the running in the \u2018Best Telenovela\u2019 category with \u2018Empire\u2019, written by Aguinaldo Silva and directed by Rog\u00e9rio Gomes (also known as Papinha). \u2018Sweet Mother\u2019 and \u2018Empire\u2019 are in Globo\u2019s 2015 catalog.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The announcement of the finalists was made on the morning of last Monday during MIPCOM, the annual fair dedicated to the television market, which takes place in Cannes, France, until the 8th. Globo competes with productions from Spain, Portugal, Angola, France, Colombia, South Africa, Canada, United Kingdom, and Norway. The first telenovela to win an Emmy was Gloria Perez\u2019s \u2018India – A Love Story\u2019 in 2009. In 2011, the broadcaster was again winner in the \u2018Best Telenovela\u2019 category with \u2018Blood Ties,\u2019 a co-production with SIC. In the same year, Globo was awarded for the \u2018Jornal Nacional\u2019 coverage of the invasion of Complexo do Alem\u00e3o with the International Emmy in Journalism. The following year, two statues were won with the productions \u2018The Illusionist\u2019 for \u2018Best Telenovela\u2019 and \u2018The Invisible Woman\u2019 for \u2018Best Comedy\u2019. In 2013, in addition to Fernanda Montenegro\u2019s award as best actress, the broadcaster took home the statue for \u2018Best Telenovela\u2019 with \u2018Side by Side.\u2019<\/p>\n
Brazil will also be represented at the 43rd International Emmy for two nominations of \u2018Psi\u2019: \u2018Best Drama Series\u2019 and \u2018Best Actor\u2019 for the work of Emilio de Mello.<\/p>\n
Also, Globo is competing for the first time for the Emmy Kids for best series with \u2018Young Hearts.\u2019 This is the product\u2019s third consecutive Emmy nomination, the first in the Kids category.
