Globo will take its productions to the 2017 edition of Berlinale, one of the most important film festivals in the world, taking place until February 19th in Berlin. The Brazilian media group will participate in the Drama Series Days, an event held during the festival, showcasing its latest productions and initiatives to the international series market. At 10 a.m. on the 13th, Globo will show two episodes of \u2018The Wise Ones\u2019, a 2016 International Emmy-nominated piece directed by Fernando Meirelles, from the Oscar-nominated \u2018City of God\u2019. Later on in the day, at 4 p.m., the network will also show two episodes of the Ibero-American version of \u2018Supermax\u2019, featuring artistic direction by Argentine filmmaker Daniel Burman, winner of the Silver Bear for the film \u2018El abrazo partido\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

Globo\u2019s participation at Berlinale strengthens its presence in the European market, featuring innovative series with quality plots and production value. The network also consolidates itself as a major player in the market, producing different formats highly attractive to other networks around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supermax\"<\/a>

Supermax<\/p><\/div>\n

Released on NATPE 2017, \u2018Supermax\u2019 is Globo\u2019s first original production targeted to international audiences, produced in Spanish. The plot marked the onset of a new trend for Globo, co-produced by Oficina Burman, Mediaset (Spain), TV Azteca (Mexico) and TVP (Argentina), in addition to Teledoce (Uruguay).<\/span><\/p>\n

Shot in Globo Studios, in Rio de Janeiro, and at Salinas Grandes, in the Argentine province of Jujuy, \u2018Supermax\u2019 is a psychological thriller with a mix of drama, suspense and adventure. In the fictional series, contestants are selected for a reality show inside a maximum security prison, where they discover that they have one thing in common: besides seeking the cash prize, they all have criminal records. Contestants must deal not only with the mysteries surrounding the location, but also with their own problems and fears.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, \u2018The Wise Ones\u2019 is an O2 Filmes production for Globo, created and directed by Quico Meirelles, Gisele Barroco and Fernando Meirelles. The series features a touching reflection on aging, rediscovering and reinventing oneself in one of the best stages of life. The plot features four independent stories sharing a common theme: old age. The series gives the floor to older characters and shows the teachings and wisdom they have to share, proving that there is no such thing as the right age to pursue your dreams.<\/span><\/p>\n

Set in S\u00e3o Paulo, with scenes shot on some of the city\u2019s main landmarks, the plot features modern and universal stories, to which audiences of different ages and backgrounds can easily relate. The series also features a cast of experienced actors from major Globo productions, such as Beatriz Segall (\u2018The Clone\u2019), Selma Egrei (\u2018The Illusionist\u2019), Joana Fomm (\u2018Boogie Oogie\u2019), Juca de Oliveira (\u2018Brazil Avenue\u2019), Lima Duarte (\u2018India – A Love Story\u2019), and Othon Bastos (\u2018Empire\u2019).<\/span><\/p>\n
