For the fifth consecutive year and as a reflection of the rise of Ibero-American filmography, the number of participating productions has set a record, 850 feature films.\u00a0Of these works, 178 have been pre-selected to be among the 20 candidates for final nominations, which will be announced on February 20 in Mexico City.\u00a0Finally, on March 14, it will be time to meet the five finalists for each category of awards.<\/p>\n
In addition, it should be noted that the PLATINO incorporate two new categories that will reward the Best Male and Female Performance of the Ibero-American Mini-series or Cinematographic Teleserie. The productions for the small screen began to be recognized in this contest with the incorporation in 2017 of the award for the Best Ibero-American Cinematographic Miniseries or Teleserie.
