This year, George R. R. Martin’s fantasy series won the best drama award for the third time and rose as the most award-winning series with nine awards in total.<\/p>\n

The best comedy was for\u00a0“The Wonderful Mrs. Maisel<\/em>,“<\/em>\u00a0from Amazon Prime Video. For the first time a streaming service wins in that category. The series added eight trophies in total.<\/p>\n

The Emmy battle between HBO and Netflix got going in 2013 with the release of\u00a0House of Cards<\/em>, a political thriller that positioned Netflix as a quality TV programmer. HBO, now owned by AT&T Inc., had dominated that space for a long time with acclaimed series such as\u00a0The Sopranos<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Sex in New York.<\/em><\/p>\n

Among the Netflix trophies stood out the five that added the historical drama\u00a0The Crown<\/em>, including best dramatic actress for Claire Foy, four for\u00a0Black Mirror<\/em>\u00a0and three for the limited series\u00a0Godless.<\/p>\n
