Throughout its history, women have reached many milestones in media in the U.S.\u00a0Teresa Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, co-anchor of \u201cAqu\u00ed y Ahora,\u201d broke barriers by becoming the first woman in history to anchor a national primetime newscast in Spanish.\u00a0Mar\u00eda Antonieta Collins<\/strong>, co-host of \u201cCr\u00f3nicas de S\u00e1bado,\u201d started her career as one of the firsts female Major League Baseball correspondents.\u00a0Ilia Calder\u00f3n<\/strong>, co-anchor of Univision Noticias, was the first Afro-Latina anchor of a nationwide Spanish-language newscast, and\u00a0Iris Cisneros<\/strong>, Univision Deportes sportscaster, was the first woman to call a soccer match in Spanish on U.S. television.<\/p>\n \u201cAt Univision, women play an important role at every level year-round\u2014from our studios to our editing bays, newsrooms and DJ booths, and management, our\u00a0s\u00faper mujeres<\/em>\u00a0are key drivers in our company\u2019s continued growth and leadership position,\u201d said Vince Sadusky,\u00a0CEO of Univision\u00a0Communications Inc. “During International Women’s Day, we are proud to celebrate their achievements and through this tribute, recognize the positive impact that Latinas have on the communities we serve.”<\/p>\n As part of the \u201cTogether, We Are Superwomen\u201d tribute, Univision\u2019s women in front and behind the camera will wear purple to show their support and excitement for this important date globally and the digital look and feel will mirror the same palette.
