Pioneer in the production of Spanish-language entertainment, passed away\u00a0this past\u00a0April 21.\u00a0\u2018Joaqu\u00edn, el de Los Riviera\u2019 – as on one occasion confessed the origin of his name – was born in\u00a0La Habana, Cuba. At 17 years\u00a0graduated from High School at\u00a0Colegio de\u00a0la Salle de Cuba, then\u00a0channeled his artistic vocation as a\u00a0dancer\u00a0of private clubs withot abandoning his superior Dance studies.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>In 1957 forms the\u00a0Tr\u00edo Los Riviera,<\/em>\u00a0 next to\u00a0Mercy Casas\u00a0and\u00a0Francisco Del Pino, with which toured several countries of the world, including Venezuela. In the sixties, begins his career as a producer, performing in that role on a\u00a0weekly television program and in the\u00a0Tropicana<\/em>\u00a0Cabaret<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a0La Habana Hotel.<\/p>\n

In 1969 arrives at\u00a0Venevision as program producer and choreographer of the program\u00a0De Fiesta Con Venevision<\/em>, making it one of the most successful programs of the small screen and according to his own words,\u00a0\u201coffered me endless satisfacion which made me to definitely reside in Venezuela and\u00a0move forward with the new projects in the channel” .<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>In 1980 thanks to the call from Enrinque Cuzco, the General Manager of the network, was\u00a0requested \u00a0to create a spectacle for the arrival\u00a0of the first Venezuelan\u00a0‘Miss Universe’<\/em>, Maritza Sayalero, to which he replied\u00a0“just for\u00a0this year”<\/em>\u00a0– but such was his passion for the event that ended\u00a0dedicating, body and soul, to the production of the mot important beauty contest of the country,\u00a0‘Miss Venezuela\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Thereafter, all the musical productions of Venevision would be under his supervision and general production. In 1986 is appointed Production Manager of Venevision, taking on the challenge of developing plans throughout the creative area.<\/p>\n

Rivera produced under his belt,\u00a0countless events of international significance, among them: closing of the\u00a0Juegos Panamericanos 1983<\/em>,\u00a0el Carnaval Internacional de Miami<\/em>, for eight\u00a0years;\u00a0Se\u00f1orita M\u00e9xico<\/em>, from Mexico City,\u00a0Mazatl\u00e1n and Acapulco, for three years;\u00a0El Miss Hispanidad<\/em>, from\u00a0Miami, for 10 years and\u00a0El Miss Aruba<\/em>, from Oranjestad, during two years to mention a few.<\/p>\n

His\u00a0talent and dedication was the subject of countless\u00a0awards including:\u00a0Mara de Oro, Guaicaipuro de Oro,\u00a0 Meridiano de Oro, Rafael Guinand, Venus de la Prensa, Musa de Oro, Casa del<\/em>\u00a0Artista,\u00a0El Dorado;<\/em>\u00a0amongst the internacional awards rceived\u00a0the\u00a0Premio ACE<\/em>, in New York,\u00a0ACA\u00a0of Miami, ACRIN\u00a0of Miami,<\/em>\u00a0Premio Ondas\u00a0<\/em>of Barcelona, Spain, among others. Joaqu\u00edn Rivera will\u00a0always be in the hearts of those who knew him and had the joy of working with him.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
