NALIP\u2019s Latino Media Fest presented by NBCUniversal Telemundo, brings together Latino filmmakers, industry reps, executives, and film aficionados for a 2-day event.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The festival featured premieres, workshops, master classes, and a star-studded awards ceremony to recognize substantial work in entertainment that inspires Latinx creatives to continue moving their projects forward in front and behind the camera.<\/p>\n

At the virtual festival, NALIP announced the 2021 Latino Media Fest Awardees:<\/p>\n

Best Latinx TV Show<\/strong> \u2013 Tie between POSE (Accepted by Steven Canals) and Diary of a Future President (Accepted by Ilana Pe\u00f1a)<\/p>\n

Best Latinx Film<\/strong> (Documentary) – Rita Moreno: Just A Girl Who Decided To Go For It (Accepted by Mariem P\u00e9rez Riera and Ilia Velez)<\/p>\n

Best Latinx Film<\/strong> (Narrative) – In The Heights<\/p>\n

Excellence in Entertainment Journalism <\/strong>– Clayton Davis (Film Awards Editor, Variety)<\/p>\n

Peruvian filmmaker Kant\u00fa Lentz<\/strong> received the Jury Award for her short-film Coche Bomba. The NALIP Latino Media Fest Jury Award is presented to one of the Latino Media Fest\u2019s Official Selection filmmakers after a selection process conducted by the panel of jurors including: Chelsea Rendon, Cristo Fern\u00e1ndez, Danay Garcia, Danny Ramirez, Jesus Trejo, Karrie Martin Lachney, Melissa Barrera<\/strong>, and Oz Rodriguez.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event was hosted by comedian, writer, and actor, Erik Rivera<\/strong>, with awardees being selected by an internal committee of judges, as well as over 20,000 member NALIP supporters voting via the NALIP newsletter.<\/p>\n
