The network owned by one of Mexico\u2019s most prestigious educational institutions, Instituto Polit\u00e9cnico Nacional (IPN), is celebrating D\u00eda de muertos with a special marathon airing of the successful suspense series Ni\u00f1o Santo<\/i><\/b>.\u00a0 The binge viewing marathon begins on Monday, October 28, at 11p.m. ET\/8p.m. PT and continues through Sunday, November 3, on Once TV M\u00e9xico\u2019s international signal.<\/p>\n
Ni\u00f1o Santo<\/i><\/b> is a six-episode fiction series based on Ni\u00f1o Fidencio, one of the most famous healers in the history of Mexico.\u00a0 Even though the Catholic Church does not recognize him as a saint, his devoted followers extend well into the United States.<\/p>\n
The Ni\u00f1o Santo<\/i><\/b> story takes place in an island town called Manglares that suffers an outbreak of cholera, worrying public health officials, sanitation authorities and politicians. Three young doctors are sent to the island to give vaccinate people from the area but during their stay they discover a strange cult lead by a kid who heals the ill and swears that the town is being touched by the hand of God.\u00a0 As a series of strange events unfolds, the doctors try to keep their opinions to themselves in the name of science. But the more \u201cmiracles\u201d they witness the young healer perform, the more challenges there are in the science versus faith debate.<\/p>\n
Ni\u00f1o Santo <\/i><\/b>is an original idea from Pablo Cruz (Voy a explotar, D\u00e9ficit, Sin Nombre, Abel<\/i>) created by Mauricio Katz (Miss Bala, Verdaderamente Durazo<\/i>) and Pedro Petra\u00f1o (La Nana, Los Gatos Viejos, Plan Z, 31 Minutos). <\/i>The series was directed by David Alcalde and Sebasti\u00e1n Silva. The series stars Gabino Rodr\u00edguez, Karla Souza, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda de Tavira, Francisco de la Reguera, Harold Torres, Gerardo Taracena and No\u00e9 Hern\u00e1ndez, among others.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
