Opening new headquarters in the Convention Center of the Las Am\u00e9ricas hotel in Cartagena de Indias, the event started with the focus on the future of telecommunications. “We changed venues because there is a need for spaces for our education offer,” said Luz Marina Arango, founder of the event.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The event is taking place from March 7 to today, Thursday, March 9, and opened the day with a focus on connectivity, accessibility, and digital inclusion.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At the event, the latest trends are explored together with industry leaders and experts, sharing experiences, and evaluating opportunities offered by technologies to build a sustainable and equitable future.<\/p>\n

KEY VOICES AT THE EVENT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Miguel Felipe Anzola, general director of the National Spectrum Agency (ANE) highlighted the agency’s work in terms of connectivity: \u00abWe seek efficiency and work with all sectors that make use of communications. Today all communication systems use at least one wireless component, PCs, telephones, TVs. That is why the radio spectrum becomes a vital component, if we do not have it, we cannot use those services\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sandra Milena Urrutia P\u00e9rez, TIC Minister, said that \u201cin this government of hope, we are going to go from 60% connectivity to 85%. Many ministers and administrations have also set these goals. We must improve the continuity and quality of the service, because we perceive a deterioration in connectivity when leaving urban centers. We are working with the mobile industry to improve streaming and connectivity.”<\/p>\n

Finally, Luz Marina Arango, president of ANDINALINK, highlighted that the academic program offers important panels, talks and workshops, where telecommunications operators can learn first-hand how to develop their systems and advance their business, as well as how to an opportunity for those technicians and engineers, who can be certified and have better support in the workplace.<\/p>\n

The great attendance confirms the importance of ANDINALINK, a key event to establish businesses, learn about the latest trends and value networking spaces, for the pay TV and telecommunications industry in the region.<\/p>\n

Also participating are Nicol\u00e1s Silva, president of the Colombian Communications Regulation Commission (CRC).<\/p>\n

IMPORTANT DATA OF THE EVENT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

More than 140 stands, 28 more than in 2022 and a trade show with around 50 more exhibitors than the previous event, according to Arango. The event includes the FICA (Ibero-American Convergence and Audiovisual Forum) panels, which is one of the main activities together with the courses and shares topics for the audiovisual sector such as: ‘Present and future of the audiovisual sector in Latin America’; ‘The challenge of OTT platforms for the communications industry in LATAM’; or ‘Algorithms in the audiovisual industry’.<\/p>\n

The Smart Cities. Discussions of the various facets of Smart Territories: regulatory issues to technological, social, environmental, economic and commercial aspects. In this way, the challenges to promote digital transformation in Latin America are analyzed.<\/p>\n
