As Chairman of the BBC Board of Directors, he has overseen the maintenance and protection of the BBC&#8217;s independence and has ensured that the BBC fulfills its mission to report, educate and entertain.<\/p>\n<p>Sharp resigned on April 28 after a report found he twice violated the rules governing public appointments.
