The event, organized by the <\/em>Berlinale Series Market<\/em> and <\/em>Iberseries & Platino Industria<\/em>, brought together leading production companies and industry professionals in Berlin to foster ambitious global projects.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

For the first time, Series Match: Germany & Ibero-America<\/em> was held\u2014an initiative of Berlinale Series Market and Iberseries & Platino Industria that, within the framework of the European Film Market<\/strong> in Berlin, gathered production companies, creators, and leading professionals with the aim of promoting high-end series with strong international ambitions.<\/p>\n

The event seeks to facilitate the co-production of projects in early development stages, strengthening collaboration between Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Latin America.<\/p>\n

Participating German production companies included Zeitsprung Pictures<\/strong>, UFA Fiction<\/strong>, SKP Entertainment<\/strong>, and Studio Zentral<\/strong>, alongside Ibero-American companies Boutique Filmes<\/strong> and Movioca<\/strong> from Brazil, Alterna Media<\/strong> from Uruguay, Villano<\/strong> from Chile, and Funicular Films<\/strong> from Spain.<\/p>\n

The program took place on February 16 and 17 at the Studio Babelsberg Lounge at CinemaxX<\/strong>, featuring presentations of early-stage projects and professional meetings aimed at fostering creative exchange and strategic partnerships among companies.<\/p>\n

\nSKP Entertainment, founded by Alexander Keil<\/strong> and showrunner Stefan Stuckmann<\/strong>, presented The Runaway<\/em>, based on the autobiography of heavy metal guitarist and escaped convict Detlef Kowalewski<\/strong>, recounting his life with his family in Brazil; and The Manhunt<\/em>, a political thriller about a journalist uncovering an international network digitally manipulating historical crimes.<\/p>\n

Regarding his participation in Series Match<\/strong>, Keil<\/strong> stated that \u201cthe Spanish market represents a strategic advantage due to the investment behavior of global streaming providers, making it especially attractive to jointly develop and finance projects.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The forum also spotlighted internationally ambitious projects such as El Abuso<\/em>, directed by Fernando Meirelles<\/strong> and C\u00e9sar Charlone<\/strong>, which recreates the 1971 escape of 101 Uruguayan political prisoners; Monika \u2013 Victory or Death<\/em>, a European\u2013Latin American co-production about the life of Monika Ertl; and A casa das setes mulheres<\/em>, by Angela Chaves<\/strong>, reinterpreting a Brazilian historical classic from a contemporary female perspective.<\/p>\n

Additionally, thrillers such as Assassinos no Paraiso<\/em>, psychological dramas like Tierra quemada<\/em>, and industry-focused proposals such as Callback<\/em> were presented, marking a strong political, historical, and social thematic focus.<\/p>\n

For Brazilian content house Movioca<\/strong>, \u201cthis space represents a key opportunity to connect with potential co-producers and expand the international reach of our Ibero-American audiovisual projects, in an environment that fosters collaboration and access to new markets.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

With this first edition, Series Match <\/strong>positions itself as a strategic platform to promote international co-production, facilitate synergies between Europe and Latin America, support premium series with large-scale storytelling ambitions, and strengthen creative and financial exchange between Spanish-, Portuguese-, and German-speaking markets.<\/p>\n
