This participation underlined the growing influence of Turkey in the global media landscape.

The event is one of the benchmarks in the development of the audiovisual content and proposals industry in a key continent such as Africa and the Middle East & United Arab Emirates. It is a bridge with other continents, including America.

Irina Deaconu, marketing and communication manager of DICM spoke with TVMAS, a media outlet that is a Media Partner of this important business circuit. She highlighted the participation of companies and new players who took advantage of the 2024 edition, who are confirming for this year by joining new participants.

Latin America and the United States were not left behind. They showcased drama series, films, documentaries, formats among other genres.

DICM 2024 set new benchmarks for collaboration and innovation in the media industry, achieving important agreements such as Studio S’ partnership with evision for series 11 and Neon Creation’s $1.5 million MoU with a regional distributor. The conversations and partnerships resulting from the event are expected to drive transformative change in the industry.

Turkey is very active in these territories as it is in America and on other continents. What are the results of 2024 in terms of company and content participants from Turkey?

“At the 2024 edition of the Dubai International Content Market (DICM), Turkey had a significant presence with 15 major companies showcasing a diverse content offering, reflecting the country’s rich cultural heritage and modern creativity. Among the most renowned exhibitors are content producers and distributors such as Inter Medya, ATV, Global Agency, Calinos, Kanal D, TRT, offering screenings, conferences and networking activities. This participation underlined Turkey’s growing influence in the global media landscape” Irina answers.

Also noteworthy was a vibrant delegation from the Americas, with participants from Latin America and the United States. “Companies such as Globo, Seriella Productions, Candlelight Media, Rising Tides Films, The Traveling Picture Show Company, brought a wealth of content from drama series to documentaries. This confirms the growing interest and investment in the MENA region by content creators and distributors from South and North America.”

IMPACT of exhibitors from Asia

Asian companies made a notable impact with 38 companies from countries such as China, Japan, Singapore, the Philippines and Korea. Animation, feature films, documentaries and TV series were the protagonists.

Looking ahead to 2025, DICM is ready to build on its success, anticipating the participation of more than 100 exhibitors and increasing the number of buying companies to 250. “The role of Latin America in DICM has been significant in the 2024 edition. Participants contributed to the diversity and global reach of the event and enriched the cultural tapestry of the event by opening highways for collaborations and intercontinental business opportunities”
