The 13th Platino Xcaret Awards: Mexico Shines with 2026 Nominations

The PLATINO XCARET Awards have unveiled the nominations for the best films and series of 2026.

The nomination announcement was broadcast live to a global audience from the Telemundo Center studios in Miami. The event was hosted by Carlota Vizmanos, with the participation of Enrique Cerezo—President of EGEDA and Executive President of the PLATINO Awards—along with Bernardo Cueto, Secretary of Tourism for Quintana Roo, and Luis Carlos Velázquez, Chief Marketing Officer of Grupo Xcaret.

This prestigious and highly acclaimed awards event presented the live announcement of the nominations for the 13th Edition of the PLATINO XCARET Awards.  The 2026 Platino Awards: Mexico dominates the nominations with ‘Las muertas’ and ‘Chespirito: Sin querer queriendo. National talent has emerged as the clear frontrunner in the television series category ahead of the upcoming gala on May 9th in the Riviera Maya.

The selection brings together the most outstanding achievements in Ibero-American cinema and television from the past year, in an edition that once again places Mexico at the center of the regional conversation—particularly within the realm of television series. Although the competition features productions from 14 different countries, the Mexican representation is concentrated in television projects that have made a significant impact through both their storytelling and their casts, securing nominations across various acting and production categories.

The Platino Xcaret Awards annually recognize the very best in cinema and television series produced throughout Ibero-America, encompassing works in both Spanish and Portuguese. Since their inception, the awards have established themselves as one of the premier showcases for the region’s audiovisual industry, bringing together productions, creators, and talent from diverse nations onto a single unified platform.

For the 2026 edition, the organizing committee selected a total of 30 films and 19 series as finalists, following an evaluation process that assesses key criteria such as direction, screenwriting, acting performances, and production values.
