Antena 3 Internacional exclusively broadcasts a new interview with “Los Amigos de Edu.” Following appearances on the program with fellow former Real Madrid players Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, it’s now Colombian star James Rodríguez’s turn.
The current player for Club León in the Mexican First Division welcomes journalist Edu Aguirre to explain his personal and professional life since he began playing.
James recalls that “when I was 16, I was being harassed playing in Argentina.” After his move to Europe, he explains that “City and PSG offered a lot of money for me,” but his move ultimately came to fruition with Real Madrid: “Florentino (Pérez) told me: ‘What do you want? Glory or money?’ That’s why I signed for Real Madrid,” he recalls.
Regarding the top Latin American national team competition, in which his team, La Tricolor, lost to Messi’s Albiceleste, he raises a major question: “Argentina won the Copa América final due to external factors. Why weren’t the VAR audio recordings released?”
Regarding his time in Spain, he admits that he felt “mistreated by the press” and, regarding the future, he is clear: “I want to make it to the 2026 World Cup and then decide whether to stay or retire.”

The documentary series “Los amigos de Edu” premiered with the aim of showcasing, through Edu Aguirre, the tough, real-life stories of athletes such as Gerard Descarrega, Cisco García, Desirée Vila, and Javier Martí.
