In pursuit of accumulating audiences eager for new and disruptive stories, Carlos Quintanilla, the series’ showrunner and VP & Head of Content and Production Latam/USH for Sony Pictures Television Latin America, presents this audiovisual piece about the life of the Habsburg “Empress Carlota” with a modern and multicultural approach.
The panel, Carlota: The Empress Who Crosses Borders, is a historical and multicultural drama about Carlota of Habsburg, Empress of Mexico. The fiction explores the power, identity, and universal dilemmas of a woman who defied her time.

Carlos Quintanilla, executive and co-creator of the story and vice president of content and production for Latin America and US Hispanic at Sony Pictures Television Latin America, says: “Carlota is an original project that Adriana Pelusi and I began creating in 2012 and brought it to fruition. A fresh, fun, and contemporary story; we didn’t want to tell the traditional version that Mexicans were taught in school.”
INTERNATIONAL ACTORS AND ACTRESSES
Starring singer and actress Belinda, born in Madrid and raised in Mexico, one of the most influential Latin artists of her generation. Actors Jaime Lorente, Miguel Ángel Silvestre, and Mexican Mabel Cadena are also part of the large international cast.
