“Berlinale is one of the largest film festivals in the world, it has a huge tradition and respect.

The first Original Globoplay horror series, a disruptive vision will have its world premiere today, Tuesday 18th, at the 11th edition of the Berlinale Series Market.

Produced by Estúdios Globo and with artistic direction by Bruno Safadi. One of the 17 productions chosen worldwide for the event, it will feature the presence of the author Juan Jullian, the director Bruno Safadi and the Guinean actor Welket Bungué, known for films such as ‘Berlin Alexanderplatz’ and ‘Crimes of the Future’, in the first world screening of the cycle in Berlin.

“The European Film Market is an important guide for the narratives that are generating interest around the world. And one of Reincarnate’s vocations is to be a radically Brazilian narrative, proposing a disruptive vision on a contemporary and complex theme, which is the construction of identity. The invitation to the premiere in Berlin confirms this vocation and gives us the opportunity to tell this story in an event that brings together various agents of the audiovisual industry from around the world in a great festive meeting of storytellers,” says Igor Verde, one of the creators of the series.

STORY. ‘Tension, scenes of graphic terror; touches of romance and desire; and existential questions. If the life of the person you love most hangs by a thread, are there limits to saving it? For Feliciano (Enrique Díaz), the answer is no. The death of some can be a second chance for others. For more than 20 years, since his wife suffered her first stroke, the doctor has been looking for alternatives to save her from death. To achieve this, he is willing to go to extremes, with questionable consequences.

In addition to a strong Brazilian cast made up of Taís Araujo (“Corazón de Madre”), Julia Dalavia (“Pantanal”) and Enrique Diaz (“Corazón de Madre”), the work also features the Guinean Welket Bungué and the Portuguese Isabél Zuaa.

“Berlinale is one of the largest film festivals in the world, it has an enormous tradition and respect. The history of cinema passes through its screens and in recent years, Berlin has made space in its festival for series. Reencarna is a Brazilian production and premiering it at Berlinale is the best start we could wish for,” says Bruno.

GREAT CELEBRATION OF 100 years of history

“In the year in which we celebrate 100 years of history, it is very significant to bring Brazilian talent to the Berlin Festival. More than a media company, we are storytellers and our presence at the festival is a reflection of that. We increasingly want to inspire new audiences with our productions and demonstrate our ability to create stories that travel the world,” says Alex Medeiros, Head of Drama, Documentaries and Films at Globoplay Originals.
