‘Los protegidos: Un nuevo poder’ is the title of the new episodes of the third season of ‘The Protected’. It will premiere worldwide on December 14 on Atresplayer and on December 19 on the pay TV channel Atreseries Internacional.
Ana Fernández, Luis Fernández, Antonio Garrido, Mario Marzo, Daniel Avilés, and Maggie García reprise their roles as the Castillo family. The series also stars Gracia Olayo, Marta Torné, Emilio Buale, Raúl Mérida, José Sospedra, Carlotta Cosials, Cosette Silguero, and Javier Mendo.
In addition, Elena Furiase (of “El Internado” and “Amar es para Siempre”) joins the cast this new season to play the police officer leading the investigation into the Castillo family. She is joined by Joan Solé, José Luis Alcobendas, Pablo Grifé, Alba Ribas, and Raúl Sanz.
Colombian actress Angie Cepeda returns to the series to reprise her role as Jimena. ‘Los protegidos: Un nuevo poder’. In the third season, an unusual enemy threatens the stability of the Castillo family. Max, a young man with a power never before seen in the series, uses an enchanted doll to sow chaos throughout the city, while the protagonists face personal and family challenges that will test their unity and bond as a group.
The series is produced by Atresmedia in collaboration with Buendía Estudios and Boomerang TV. Montse García, Lucía Alonso-Allende, Diego del Pozo, Carlos García Miranda, Tomás Silberman, and Teddy Villalba are the executive producers. García Miranda leads the writing team, which includes Sancho Sánchez and Arturo Ruiz Serrano. Oriol Ferrer and Roberto Montalbo direct. Daniel Alonso is the production manager. This new season features a special appearance by Angie Cepeda, who returns to the series to reprise her role as Jimena, a key character in the first seasons. Jimena, the “mother” of the Castillo family, had an intense relationship with Mario.
Alongside Jimena, her daughter Blanca returns, played this time by Elvira Lara. After years of hiding due to a vision that predicted the Castillo family’s death if they stayed together, Blanca has learned to control her powers and will be key in helping the family save Christmas. Eduardo Espinilla also reprises his role as Hugo, Leo’s brother and a good friend of Lucas, with whom he shared a special connection.
THE STORY
Aired from 2010 to 2012 on Antena 3, the series was a ratings success and launched its young stars to fame. The story began with a group of people posing as a family, the Castillos, in order to escape a strange organization called the Elephant Clan. Their motive was none other than the supernatural powers of many of its members. Hidden as a real family, this group ended up loving each other as if their fantasy were real. However, time It caused each of them to take a different path.
In ‘The Protected: The Return,’ their lives intertwined once again. And in ‘The Protected: DNA,’ Sandra and Culebra’s wedding reunited the family, who then enrolled in the secret DNA academy to control their powers while facing new threats. The family, united and stronger than ever, is now experiencing one of its most stable periods.
