By consolidating these global streaming giants, Sky offers significant value to consumers while competing for audiences amidst market fragmentation and subscriber losses.

Sky has officially integrated Disney+ into its core TV subscription, allowing millions of customers across Europe to access the streaming service at no additional cost and reinforcing its strategy of consolidating premium content into a single package.

Eligible customers enjoy the “Disney+ Standard with Ads” plan at no extra charge and can upgrade to ad-free versions by paying the price difference. This initiative is part of a broader offering called “Ultimate TV,” which aims to integrate premium streaming apps—valued at over £20, including Netflix, HBO Max, and Hayu—into a single, unified experience for both billing and viewing.

It involves a technical integration strategy powered by Sky OS, which allows Disney+ content to appear natively in the “Continue Watching” section and respond to system-level voice commands. To further bridge the gap between traditional television and streaming, Sky is launching an exclusive linear channel—”Disney+ Cinema”—for subscribers of its movie package, offering a curated selection of major blockbusters.

By consolidating these streaming giants, Sky competes by offering high value to consumers, while simultaneously bolstering its defenses against market fragmentation and subscriber churn, according to a press release sent to the media.
