Topics include how works with high potential are identified, the criteria studios, production companies, and platforms use to transform them into audiovisual projects, and the collaboration models driving a new generation of adaptations with international reach.

FINANCING
Financing remains a key focus of the program structure, featuring a session on the new landscape of funds in Spain—a panel dedicated to new financing formulas and capital optimization within the Spanish audiovisual sector. Another trend taking center stage is the phenomenon of short-form content, addressed in the session “Vertical & Viral: The Rise of Micro-Drama.” This session will explore the revolution sparked by vertical dramas and specialized platforms. Producers and executives from studios and platforms will examine the keys to storytelling in ultra-short formats designed for immediate impact and quick consumption, the formats with the greatest monetization potential, and the new avenues this model opens for the traditional audiovisual industry. The discussion will bring together Marcela Kartaszewicz, Head of Communications at DramaBox (USA); Sasha Tkachenko, Head of Studio at My Drama by Holywater Tech (Cyprus); Pedro Lopes, General Director of Content at SPi (Portugal); and representatives from Secuoya Content Group (Spain).
Another key topic is the value and rise of franchises and classic content, explored in the conference “The Empire of Nostalgia: Were Things Better in the Past?” This session will examine how nostalgia has become a powerful business driver through thematic channels, content reruns, and reboots adapted for new generations of viewers. Participants will include Daniel Pérez, VP of Programming & Acquisitions (Factual & Fiction) at AMC Global Media Iberia and Latin America (Spain); Alexander Marín, VP at RCN Televisión (Colombia); and David Urgell Pérez, Country Manager for Iberia and Business Development for Southern Europe at BBC Studios (Spain).
Equal access within the sector will be the focus of the session “Platino Educa (EGEDA) and Nebrija Chair (CIMUED) Meetings: An Overview of Female Participation in the Colombian Audiovisual Industry—Actions for Change and Equal Opportunity.” The results of a new study by Nebrija University (Madrid, Spain), Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla, Colombia), and Universidad de La Sabana (Bogotá, Colombia) will be presented. The study examines the presence of women in the Colombian audiovisual industry, as well as the challenges involved in achieving more balanced representation across all professional spheres.
The session will feature Mercedes Herrero and Rocío Gago, researchers from the CIMUED Chair at Nebrija University (Spain), and director Liliana Bocanegra an audiovisual director (Colombia). Marta Saavedra, director of the CIMUED Chair at Nebrija University (Spain), will moderate the session, and the event will be introduced by Octavio Dapena, director of Platino Educa (Spain).
Trends: A Roadmap for 2027
This program preview includes three lectures focused on the new landscape of the audiovisual market, data analysis, and prospects for content internationalization. Gloria Saló, Director of Production and Content Consulting at GECA (Spain), will present “Co-production: Building Bridges Between Ibero-America and Europe.” This session will offer an overview of the evolution of audiovisual co-production, the genres and formats with the greatest commercial appeal, and the intellectual properties that have successfully expanded internationally through creative and financial partnerships. Special attention will be paid to the Spain-Portugal axis as a gateway to new European markets.
Meanwhile, JustWatch will present the panel “From Data to Decision: Intent-Based Marketing,” focusing on how interpreting behavioral signals and consumption intent enables the development of more efficient campaigns within an increasingly competitive and fragmented audiovisual ecosystem. The presentation will be delivered by Ingke Purrmann, co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) of JustWatch (Germany).
Rounding out this block is the lecture “Content Without Borders: How to Win Over Audiences and Markets” by Parrot Analytics. Drawing on global data regarding content supply and demand, the session will analyze key market trends and the factors that transform a local production into an international success. Jaime Otero, Vice President of Partnerships at Parrot Analytics (USA), will examine which series, genres, and markets hold the greatest potential in Spain, Latin America, and the US Hispanic market, while also offering insights on how to increase the reach and international value of content.
With these new additions, Iberseries & Platino Industria strengthens a program designed to anticipate major industry trends and foster strategic reflection on business models, innovation, financing, co-production, and the transformation of audiences within the global audiovisual market.
