One study conducted by Parks Associates, Netflix is becoming increasingly strong in the UK, where it was already contracted by 18% of households and is beginning to displace the use of ITV Player, a free service of on-demand and catch-up of the third largest network of the UK, which is used by 20% of households.
Although Netflix and ITV Player are behind BBC iPlayer are behind who dominates the market, is NETFLIX who grows at a rapid pace. In total, nearly three fifths (58%) of households in the territory used a video streaming service of Player in the last 30 days.
Netflix, clearly the leader in the US, came to Europe with great expectations. The growth in the number of subscribers in many parts of that territory has been slow, but, without other key services which compete, Netflix and others are gaining ground.
