With this channel 100% in Spanish, Kanal D, seeks to expand its audience in a region like LATAM that has fallen in love with Turkish contents.
Within the framework of NATPE on Tuesday, the first day of the event, both companies announced this pay-TV channel for Latin America and the US Hispanic market, a linear channel that will offer elements such as catch-up or binge-watching.
“The channel is based on the Kanal D dramas, with more than 900 hours for the Hispanic market,” said Kerim Emrah Turna, director of business and sales development for the Americas and Africa of Kanal D.
Patrick Rivet, CEO of Thema América, was very optimistic and said the channel will have 80% premium content that has not been seen on another channel in the region before. “We will start with 1,500 hours of content, 13 series per year of which eight will be new,” Rivet explained, adding that “we are designing the channels according to the habits of the Hispanic audience of the US and Latin America.”
Thema América has exclusive digital rights for all Kanal D Drama programming, available for all digital platforms and online services of cable and satellite operators.
