Amazon Prime Video will also produce series this 2019 in Mexico

The streaming giant, announced the production of more than 20 new series and others that are back in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, Japan and Mexico

The titles will be available to a global audience in more than 200 countries. The company, also -like Netflix- chose Mexico as their main place of production in Latin America.

“We are delighted to make this announcement. Back-to-back series and original productions in seven countries on three continents of the world. We know that customers who see Prime Video look for authentic stories, set in their own countries with characters that can reflect their own experiences and diversity. We are excited to amplify the voices of the narrators around the world and to give life to their visions for our viewers,” expressed in a statement Jennifer Salke, director of Amazon Studios.

Among the productions in Mexico are: El Presidente, produced by Fabula, producer of Pablo Larrain (Jackie, A Fantastic Woman) and Gaumont (Narcos). Series based on the real characters and the events behind the “FIFA Gate” corruption scandal of 2015.

Also, a sci-fi/horror comedy with high doses of suspense and dark humor. The production is scheduled for 2019 by Dynamo (Narcos, El Chapo) and Red Creek Productions (Sins of My Father.)

El Juego de las Llaves, is a comedy about long-term monogamy, set in modern Mexico City. The series follows four long-term couples who are friends who one day decide to swing. Each character must face the impact of the decision they took in their relationship and personal perspective on sexuality.

It highlights a series of political suspense without title, co-produced with Televisa. Mexico City is the backdrop of an intense and interrelated story composed of politicians, assassins, government spies and drug cartels, who clash in a struggle to take control of the leadership of the Mexican government and its underworld.

Como Sobrevivir Soltero, a one-hour drama of a fictional version of the life of Mexican actor Sebastian Zurita and his group of millennial friends, where everyone has bad luck in love. Produced by Campanario, Addiction House and Sony Pictures, set in Mexico City. 

TITLES THAT WILL RETURN. LOL: Last One Laughing (season two), based on the highly popular Japanese format of HITOSHI MATSUMOTO Presents Documentary. Presented by actor, writer, director and comedian Eugenio Derbez (Overboard, How to be a Latin Lover), LOL presents ten renowned comedians in a “battle of laughter behind closed doors”, where the goal is to make themselves laugh among them.

In addition, the platform confirmed the return of Diablo Guardian (season two), an adaptation of the award-winning novel by Xavier Velasco of the same name. The second installment will feature the performances of Paulina Gaitán (Narcos), Andrés Almeida (Y Tu Mamá También) and the award-winning actor Adrián Ladrón (La 4ª Compañía.) The first season was produced by Televisa Alternative Originals for Amazon Studios.
