The youth genre remains a key leader, generating huge audiences and fans.

In its debut, the youth film Culpa Tuya reached the number 1 spot in more than 170 countries, including Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Canada; the Top 3 in the US and the United Kingdom; and the Top 10 in more than 220 countries and territories.

International Originals also reached new levels of success in their countries of origin, with productions such as Mirzapur (India), Who Killed Him? (Mexico), El Maníaco del Parque (Brazil), Nahir (Argentina) and Oshi No Ko (Japan), breaking audience records on Prime Video in their respective territories.

“Our goal has always been to produce International Originals that have a significant impact on audiences, starting in their country of origin,” said James Farrell, VP of International Originals, Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios.

Several titles will return starting in 2025 with new seasons and sequels, along with adaptations of well-known IPs, including Culpa Nuestra, My Fault: London, Dímelo Bajito, Apocalipsis Z, Reina Roja, Maxton Hall: The World Between Us and Betty la fea, La Historia Continúa.

Prime Video says that the Spanish youth film Culpa Tuya has become a global phenomenon, being the most-watched International Original in the platform’s history. The sequel to Mercedes Ron’s Culpables book trilogy premiered on December 27, 2024, in more than 240 countries and territories. It is currently the platform’s most-watched International Original globally at launch, with 90% of views coming from viewers outside of Spain.

Prime Video also revealed the list of the 10 most-watched non-English-language International Originals of 2024 that achieved record audiences outside of their home country, setting a new standard for international content consumption. The list includes titles from seven different countries, reflecting the diverse viewing habits of Prime Video customers.

Most popular genres and countries attracting international audiences

The youth genre remains a key leader, generating huge audiences and fans. Culpa Tuya tops the list, closely followed by the German Original Maxton Hall: The World Between Us, based on the successful Save Me novel series by Mona Kasten.

South Korean dramas aimed at young female audiences, such as Marry My Husband and No Gain No Love, also managed to enter the Top 10.

Younger generations are increasingly consuming content regardless of language or origin.

Spanish-language Originals continue to attract large international audiences on Prime Video. Among the notable titles on the Top 10 list are the youth film Culpa Tuya, the post-apocalyptic action thriller Apocalipsis Z: El principio del fin, the adaptation of the suspense book trilogy Reina Roja, and the Colombian series Betty la fea, La Historia Continúa, which marks the iconic return of “Betty.”

Other titles are international stories from well-known brands, such as the spy series Citadel: Diana, Original from Italy, and Citadel: Honey Bunny, Original from India, both born from the universe of Citadel, the global Original series from Prime Video.

There are also adaptations of well-known intellectual properties, such as the Japanese Original Like A Dragon: Yakuza, a television adaptation of the iconic SEGA video game series.

In 2025 and beyond

All movies and series will be available to Prime Video customers in 240 countries and territories around the world, with up to 34 subtitle options and 18 dubbing languages.
