The communicators received the invitation as part of an awareness campaign by the Begin Anew Foundation, founded by Chilean Einer Rubilar, who invited them to spend a few days in Uganda to learn about the harsh reality this country faces due to the lack of clean water.
13C, Channel 13’s cultural channel, made an important recording of this trip, showcasing this humanitarian project, which will involve building wells in a Ugandan town. The hosts met the residents and learned about the difficulties they face due to the lack of clean water. They also participated in the inauguration of one of the wells, thus raising awareness of this African country’s need for clean water.

Communicator Angélica Castro, who traveled with her daughter Laura de la Fuente, shares her impressions: “It was a dream come true for me to get to know Africa, and it was wonderful to have the privilege of getting to know this community from the inside. What impressed me most was the contact with the people and the reality they face there.”
Content creator Virginia Demaria comments, “I decided to take this trip because I felt it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity… to be able to live such an experience, to get to know this place in Africa, and to discover the reality of this population.” She adds, “Being able to make this trip with my daughter and having her be part of this wonderful project was a dream come true.”
In “Proyecto Agua,” the communicators not only learned about the problems caused by the lack of drinking water, but also discovered the work being done to supply this essential resource to rural areas of Uganda. This is in the context of only 19% of the population having reliable access to this resource. Angelica points out that “being able to be there and experience the reality, because they can only use contaminated water, is very sad.”

At the beginning of “Water Project,” they arrive in Entebbe, a four-hour drive from their final destination, a rural area near Masaka. They stayed at the home of the Chilean founder of the Begin Anew Foundation, toured the facilities, and met the residents.
The hosts and their daughters were amazed by the people who live in this village, highlighting the human quality of a population that lives at the real pace of life and is tremendously connected to the here, the now, and every moment lived.”
