The Mexican company and production house Televisa continue to promote a genre that brought millions of dollars into its coffers for many years through sales agreements that no longer exist today. This “dream factory” seeks to recapture the essence of classic melodrama by combining elements such as love, passion, and deception, all while keeping new generations in mind. Drawing on extensive experience, the company continues to compete against new offerings from other regions—such as Turkey and South Korea—as well as the current boom in “micronovelas” and vertical content.

This time, TelevisaUnivision presents ‘El Renacer de Luna,’ a story of love, betrayal, revenge, and redemption. Starring Marisol del Olmo, Matías Novoa, Marlene Favela, and Flavio Medina, the telenovela represents a strategic move for the network; by airing it on “Las Estrellas,” they aim to retain existing audiences and attract new fans to a genre that remains popular worldwide.

THE STORY

Two remarkable women take center stage: Luna (Mar Sordo), who must choose between destroying those who deceived her and rising anew to seek justice; and Maya (Marisol del Olmo), who finds support and hope in Sebastián (Matías Novoa) after divorcing her abusive husband, Pancho (Flavio Medina).

‘El Renacer de Luna’ is based on an original work by Cuban writer Félix B. Caignet, with a script adaptation by Jaime Sierra and Helena Aguilera. Produced by Roy Rojas, the series will air on “Las Estrellas” Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m., starting June 22—a time slot outside of prime time.
