One of the oldest festivals in Latin America is being held in Colombia from April 1 to 6. It brings together filmmakers, critics, and audiences to celebrate the diversity of Ibero-American cinema.

KEY CHILE. This year, it pays tribute to renowned Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín, whose filmography addresses key moments in the recent history of Chile and the world. The festival also expands its influence to Bogotá, with the city’s Cinemateca offering a special selection of films and complementary activities.

Guests include Margarita Rosa de Francisco (Café con aroma de mujer) and Argentine filmmaker Daniel Burman.

FICCI 2025 screenings in Cartagena take place in several emblematic venues that enrich the cinematic experience. These include the Adolfo Mejía Theater, a cultural icon of the city, and the Cine Colombia Multiplex in Plaza Bocagrande, which offers a modern and comfortable environment for viewers.

Additionally, there are outdoor screenings in venues like Plaza de los Coches and the Proclamation Palace, providing a unique and accessible atmosphere for everyone. Cultural venues like the Alliance Française Cartagena are also joining the program, consolidating a diverse circuit that brings cinema to the city’s diverse audiences. FICCI offers free screenings in open-air venues such as Plaza de los Coches and the Palacio de la Proclamación, facilitating access to cinema for a wider audience, regardless of financial means.

VALUABLE FICCI ACTIVITIES

As complementary activities, the festival includes specialized workshops, such as Foley and Actors, where attendees can explore the technical and creative aspects of filmmaking. Discussions and masterclasses feature prominent figures in the film industry, such as filmmaker Xavier Dolan. These activities provide a platform for learning and reflection on the art of cinema, offering attendees the opportunity to interact with renowned experts, filmmakers, and actors.

FICCI 64 will feature the participation of prominent filmmakers, actors, and figures from Ibero-American cinema. Among the most anticipated guests are Xavier Dolan, a Canadian filmmaker renowned for his bold style; Manolo Cardona, a renowned Colombian actor; and Ángela Molina, one of the leading figures in Spanish cinema.

Other notable guests include Natalia Reyes, the Colombian actress known for her work in Rim of the World and Terminator: Dark Fate, and Juancho Valencia, a talented Colombian actor. Additionally, Chilean filmmaker Dominga Sotomayor, known for her explorations in contemporary cinema, will participate.
