One of Globo’s greatest hits—a phenomenon in terms of both viewership and cultural impact—*Señora del Destino* has received its first international adaptation and is currently winning over audiences in Peru.

Since its premiere on April 8 in América TV’s prime-time slot, the production has established itself as the undisputed audience leader every day throughout its first two weeks on air. The series averaged one million viewers per episode, reinforcing the strong connection Latin American viewers feel with Brazilian stories.

The original work, first broadcast in 2004, was written by Aguinaldo Silva—one of the most prominent authors in Brazilian television—who is responsible for classics such as “Vale Todo”, “Tieta”, and “Roque Santeiro”. Featuring iconic characters that transcended the screen to become touchstones of popular culture, ‘Señora del Destino’ is remembered as one of the greatest telenovelas of the 21st century.

The international adaptation is the result of an agreement between Globo, América Multimedia, and Del Barrio Producciones, combining the creative power, reach, and expertise of all three companies. The partnership also includes plans for the adaptation of two additional Globo telenovelas, with titles yet to be confirmed.
