The life of the renowned artist constitutes the storyline of the biopic starring Norma Ruiz and Josep Linuesa, that the channel will broadcast on Monday March 25 and April 1 central time, 13 years after the death of the artist.
It is a production in collaboration with Tri-Neo Films, under the direction of Carles Vila (‘Hospital Central’). The screenplay is from Helio Mira (‘R.I.S. Científica’) and has the writer José Aguilar (author of the homonymous biography) as an advisor.
In this journey through life of the “Spanish more Mexican” or “Queen of the Rancheras”, the audience will see some of the most important episodes of her life as her relationship with her husband, Antonio Morales Junior, a Filipino singer and actor who falls in love with, the birth of her 3 children, her musical career in Mexico, the economic crises she faced and her fight against cancer.
The TV movie also shows how Rocío strives to reconcile the complex demands of her profession with her responsibilities as wife and mother. But she, Marieta (her maiden name) forged her artistic career by putting her family’s union before her professional success.
For her participation at the end of the Franco dictatorship as a picket during the actors strike in which the collective asked for a day of rest, the artist is detained by law enforcement and taken to the General Directorate of Security. After leaving prison, she continues her professional career and forms with Junior the Unisex duo, which does not achieve the expected success.
Getting fame wasn’t easy. After participating in ‘Me Siento Extraña’, the most controversial film of Spanish cinema unveils, placed at the center of criticism, the actress puts an end to her film career to devote herself fully to music.
A fighter, charismatic and optimistic woman, managed to become a successful soloist which took her to Mexico, a country where she achieved fame with her rancheras, and her fame ran as gunpowder achieving international success.
Sandra Blázquez (‘Acacias 38’), Adrián Viador (‘El Príncipe’) and Ana Rujas (‘Punta Escarlata’) give life to Carmen, Antonio and Shaila, the children of the star. On the other hand, Helio Pedregal (‘Carlos Rey Emperador’) and Luisa Martín (‘Los Misterios de Laura’) will play the role of the singer’s parents, while Alexandra Jiménez (‘La Pecera de Eva’) will interpret Susana, one of the sisters of Rocío Dúrcal.
Yuriria del Valle (‘Sin Tetas no hay Paraíso’) in the role of Alejandra, the Latin American manager of the artist; Borja Tous (‘La que se Avecina’) as singer Juan Pardo; José Ormaetxe (‘Cuéntame lo que Pasó’) in the role of Luis Sanz, first representative of the artist; and Vanessa Castro (‘Ministerio del Tiempo’) in Vilma’s, an actress with whom Junior lived a fleeting adventure in the Philippines, complete the fiction cast.
“Más bonita que Ninguna”, “Amor Eterno”, “Quiero ser tu Todo”, “Cómo han Pasado los Años” y “Si Dios me Quita la Vida” are some of the songs covered in the discography of the singer from Madrid that includes this biographical account.
