Miguel Angel Silvestre and Luis Gerardo Méndez set to star in LOS ENVIADOS

ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) confirmed Miguel Angel Silvestre and Luis Gerardo Méndez as the stars of Los Enviados, the first series to be co-produced with Academy Award ® winning director and screenwriter, Juan José Campanella, and his production company, 100 Bares. The eight-episode series will begin filming in Mexico at the beginning of 2021 and will be directed by Campanella himself.

Spanish actor Miguel Angel Silvestre has achieved international acclaim with his portrayal of characters in Spanish TV series, like Rafael Duque in Sin Tetas No Hay Paraíso and Alberto Márquez in Velvet, as well as his outstanding performance in Sense8. Luis Gerardo Méndez has become one of the most important actors of his generation in his home country of Mexico. He starred in Nosotros Los Nobles, one Mexico’s top-grossing box office hits, and achieved world renown thanks to his role in the Club of Crows. Méndez has also participated as an actor in Murder Mystery and the new Charlie’s Angels movie and most recently produced and starred in, Half Brothers, his first movie as  a producer in United States, which will be premiered in December.

Los Enviados is an action-thriller that follow two priests from the Vatican to Mexico, where they must verify the alleged healings of another priest who mysteriously disappears. Their lives, as well as their faith, are pushed to the limit when they discover the psychiatric community on the outskirts of town, that seems to hide more than one secret regarding the healing priest and his disappearance.

This is the inaugural project of the First Look Deal between VIS and Campanella in 2019, which also includes the development of Outlaw, a series based on the story of Joaquín Murrieta, the famous California bandit.
