Regarding the most notorious changes, the expert Migdalis Silva, VP of Programming and Acquisitions/ Brand Head Nickelodeon Latin America, explains to TVMAS that there have been changes in habits in television consumption and even more as a result of the pandemic. “Streaming platforms, smart TVs and especially the Internet present a completely different environment offering a wide universe of content, this makes kids more demanding given so many platforms.”
The most outstanding programs are: The Loud House, Henry Danger, SpongeBob SquarePants, Los Casagrandes and Danger Force. But she adds that “The idea is to enhance our catalog with our own content for children and young people produced by Nickelodeon US and Viacom International Studios, as well as content co-produced locally and internationally.”
In terms of new content, on Nick’s screen in 2022 –“Our 25th anniversary in the region– we expanded the SpongeBob franchise by adding the spin-off series Kamp Koral and The Patrick Star Show, which will feature the new adventures of the most beloved characters from Bikini Bottom. We’ll also bring more live-action comedy with new seasons of hit series like Danger Force, Side Hustle, Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan, preschool series Santiago de los Mares, Pistas de Blue y Tú, Baby Shark, el Gran Show, Blaze y los Monster. Machines and Puppy Patrol”.
Coming in 2022 are new original series like Middlemost Post, Rugrats, The Smurfs, Big Nate, Drama Club, The Barbarian and the Troll, Overlords and The Underwood’s, Rock Island Mysteries and Warped! “On the other hand, the brand also welcomes Star Trek: Prodigy, an American animated television series created by Kevin and Dan Hageman for the premium streaming service Paramount + and Nickelodeon.”
