INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
More than 200 Ibero-American productions have been in the running for the PLATINUM, and the winners will be announced next Saturday, April 22 during the awards ceremony in 23 categories, with Argentina, 1985 leading the way with 14 nominations.
In this tenth edition, a new category has been added to the Best Ibero-American Fiction Comedy to highlight this genre.
For 10 years, the Entity for the Management of Audiovisual Producers’ Rights (EGEDA), the Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers (FIPCA) and the Ibero-American Federation of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences Academies (FIACINE), have been in charge of the organization of the Platino Awards. This time, an international jury, made up of 159 professionals from the Ibero-American industry, plus the votes of the community of Spanish and Portuguese-speaking filmmakers pre-selected in the nine previous editions of the PLATINO Awards, as well as the specialized international press take part in such an important gala.
A new category has been added to the Best Ibero-American Fiction Comedy, created to highlight this genre on its tour of the exhibition halls, and whose candidates are BARDO, falsa crónica de unas cuantas verdades , directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, the Spanish Competencia Oficial, by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, the Chilean Desconectados, by Diego Rougier, and the Argentine Granizo, by Marcos Carnevale.
To be held in Madrid next Saturday, April 22, the PLATINUM awards include among its finalists productions from twelve countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay), and with Argentina, 1985 as the work with the most nominations, a total of 14, followed by As bestas, BARDO, false chronicle of a few truths, Five wolves and Kidnapping news, all of them with 6.
The international jury is made up of prominent groups in the Ibero-American audiovisual field. Also taking part are filmmakers, producers and artists from the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking regions, film and series critics, directors of film festivals and events, representatives of film academies and institutes, distributors, representatives of platforms and televisions.
The awards are thanks to the support and intense collaboration of the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council with the Ibero-American audiovisual. They have the support of the World Tourism Organization, WAWA and the Ibero-American Film Academies and Institutes.
The official airline is Iberia and the guests on the red carpet will attend the gala in Volvo cars, the official vehicle of the Awards in the editions that have been held in Madrid.
Since 2021, the PLATINO have had the collaboration of LaLiga, which, in addition to organizing social initiatives with the awards, has brought the talents of Ibero-American sport and culture closer together. They also have the collaboration of sponsors such as AIE, Xcaret, TNT, Movistar Plus+, RTVE, Agencia EFE, ¡Hola! FIACINE, WAWA, Barceló or Cornejo.
