Miguel Herrán and Arón Piper
The Spanish production company Plano a Plano set its sights on actors Miguel Herrán and Arón Piper to be the protagonists of La tregua, directed by Miguel Ángel Vivas.
The film, based on real events, shows Reyes (Herrán) and Salgado (Piper), two soldiers who fought on opposite sides during the Spanish Civil War but who must share the suffering and hope in a Soviet gulag during World War II. A coexistence that will force them to join forces against the cold, hunger and horror that lives between the barbed wire. They will reveal their ideologies to discover the person hidden under each uniform.
It is a co-production of Spassks99, AIE, Amanat Capital, LTD and Umaifilm, LLP, with the collaboration of Netflix, the participation of RTVE and the creation of Plano a Plano Bilbao. César Benítez, Emilio Amaré and Álvaro Benítez are the producers of the first film from this production company and César Benítez and Emilio A. Pina, the executive producers.
THE CASTING
“For the casting we were looking for two powerful protagonists, who could transmit the harshness of a concentration camp under extreme conditions, while maintaining confidence in the future, and in both Miguel and Arón we saw that strength from the first moment,” said César Benítez, executive producer of the film.
For his part, Miguel Ángel Vivas added that “since it is a script based on real events, it is essential to reflect the cruelty that can be experienced in a concentration camp through the eyes of some soldiers, a vision that we will try to convey from the screen to the viewer with the greatest respect and truth possible.”
THE SCRIPT
Written by Fran Carballal (Cicatriz, Una vida menos en Canarias, La entrega), Ignasi Rubio (Desaparecidos, Alba) and Miguel Ángel Vivas (Cicatriz, Asedio, La casa de papel) and is scheduled to hit screens in 2025. International sales of this great production are handled by Film Factory.
