Disney Kids & Family demonstrated that series and movies—both animated and live-action—are becoming shorter, designed to reach young audiences across diverse platforms and formats.
Regarding Disney’s approach to kids and family franchises, the panel highlighted a key theme: new storytelling methods. These approaches drew applause from the media, creators, and buyers present. The conversation analyzed how Disney discovers new narratives and innovative formats, collaborating with creative partners to develop original ideas with the potential to launch new franchises.
A session featuring Ayo Davis (President, Disney Kids & Family), Alyssa Sapire (Director of Original Programming and Strategy, Disney Jr. and Disney Kids & Family), Charlie Andrews (SVP of Live Action, Disney Kids & Family), Zack Olin (SVP of Development and Current Series, Disney Television Animation), and Gino Guzzardo (VP of Multiplatform Content, Disney Kids & Family).
The panel, moderated by Emily Horgan, was delightfully entertaining. Following the presentation, at 12:30 PM, attendees and media enjoyed a buffet lunch and cocktail reception hosted by the international company—an event open to all MIP Junior delegates.
Over the course of two days, MIP Junior brought together commissioners, buyers, producers, studios, distributors, creators, investors, and IP owners from the global children’s and family entertainment sector. This edition drew more than 900 delegates from companies across over 60 countries. TVMAS was present as a media partner for this important event.
