The film created and starring alongside Sergio De Loof and Crisitan Dios received the award for “Best Experimental Feature Film” at the SHARJAH FILM PLATFORM 5 FESTIVAL.

The award was personally presented by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi to the director.

Director Fernando Portabales, a newcomer and jet lagged, expressed to various media that “There were so many stories heard, films seen, directors and artists known in the incredible cultural world of the Emirate of Shrajah. So much so that it would be impossible to tell everything in a few words”.

In the 10-day festival, Story surprised:

“Fed up with feeling marginalized, the controversial artist Sergio De Loof asks for help from his peers to create a new cultural space that he would call “La Guillotina”, obtaining a large sum of money through a large auction.

As its name foreshadowed, the project was “beheaded”, and under accusations of fraud, De Loof decided to spend the proceeds on what would be his last great work and “testament”: Living several days in suite 951 of the legendary Copacabana Palace, hotel of the big stars, royalty, and the jet-set”.

The awards ceremony held in the Heritage Area, in the city of Sharjah, was attended by Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, who presented the award to director Fernando Portabales, a list of awards that also awarded “Venas del Amazonas”, by the Peruvian Shaman Alvaro Sarmiento, for best documentary film, while the award for best short fiction went to “Hola”, by the Chilean Catherine Mazoyer.

The Sharjah Film Platform is an independent film and moving image festival organized by the Sharjah Art Foundation of the United Arab Emirates.
