Audiovisual from Spain and Iberseries & Platino Industria will perform at the Berlinale Series Market

For the first time in a joint initiative of the European Film Market, Berlinale Coproduction Market and Berlinale Talents, ICEX, Spain Export and Investment, participates in screenings (First Look + Q&A) and other activities

 
 
 
 
 

With the premiere of series in Spanish, the Next from Spain sessions will show for the first time the first images of the series “Vestidas de azul” (Atresmedia TV, Suma Content, Atresplayer PREMIUM), “Rapa T2” (Movistar Plus+, Portocabo), “ Headless Chickens” (HBO Max, Pokeepsie Films-Banijay Iberia) and “This is not Sweden” (Funicular Films, Nanouk Films, Anagram Sweden, RTVE, TV3, NDR, SVT, YLE).

Iberseries & Platino Industria is today the international benchmark for Spanish and Portuguese-speaking production. An innovative bridge for the representation of agents in the sector, tourism organizations, education and new technologies linked to the audiovisual. A vigorous meeting that promotes projects and financing opportunities, exchange of ideas and promotion of international co-production.

PERFORMANCE at the Berlinale Series Market from February 20 to 22, 2023 at Potsdamer Platz for its ninth edition.

After each screening there are different meetings with the creative and executive talents of the productions, among which the presence of Álex de la Iglesia (director, screenwriter, producer, Pokeepsie Films-Banijay Iberia), Javier Cámara (actor), Mónica López (actress), Lola Rodríguez (actress), Carolina Bang (Pokeepsie Films-Banijay Iberia), Beltrán Gortázar (Suma Content), Diego del Pozo (Atresmedia TV), Rebeca Fernández (Atresmedia TV), Susana Herreras (Movistar Plus+), Nina Hernández (Portocabo), Rodrigo Ruíz-Gallardón (Pokeepsie Films-Banijay Iberia), Marc Clotet (Funicular Films), Marta Baldó (Funicular Films), Sergi Cameron (Nanouk Films), Alberto Fernández (RTVE Digital), Gunnar Carlsson (Anagram Sweden), Sabine Holtgrave (NDR) and Jarmo Lampela (YLE).

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20

Showcase: “Spanish Fiction Contents: new releases & financial opportunities”. Panel moderated by Elisa Carbonell, General Director of Internationalization at ICEX, will address launches and financial opportunities for fiction content in Spanish. It will feature the participation of Álex de la Iglesia, Carolina Bang and Mike Hostench (Pokeepsie Films-Banijay Iberia), Gustavo Ferrada and Winnie Baert (Mediacrest) and Mónica Carretero (CreaSGR).

After each screening there will be a meeting with the creative and executive talents in an interactive dialogue.

Also on this day will be the promo-reel of “Vestidas de azul”, which is currently filming, an original ATRESplayer PREMIUM series, produced by Atresmedia Televisión in collaboration with Suma Content. Next, a keynote will be held with the actress Lola Rodríguez; Beltrán Gortázar (CEO, Suma Content); Diego del Pozo (Fiction Manager, Atresmedia TV); and Rebeca Fernández (Sales director for Europe, Atresmedia TV), moderated by Irene Jiménez (co-founder and co-editor of Audiovisual 451).

After the international success of the series “Veneno”, the story continues with “Vestidas de azul”. Two years after publishing the memoirs of Cristina Rodríguez, “La Veneno”, Valeria Vegas is at home with the VHS tape of the documentary “Vestidas de azul”, which narrates the experiences of six transgender people in Spain at the beginning of the 1990s. 80, and decides to investigate his harsh reality. These experiences will inspire Valeria’s new book. The series is directed by Mikel Rueda, Claudia Costafreda and Ian de la Rosa, and stars Lola Rodríguez, Paca La Piraña, Goya Toledo, Juani Ruiz, Alex Saint, Ángeles Ortega and Desirée Vogue.

The first images of the second season of “Rapa”, an original Movistar Plus+ series, produced in collaboration with Portocabo, can be seen exclusively, followed by a meeting with the leading actors, Javier Cámara and Mónica López, accompanied by Susana Herreras (head Editorial, Original Production, Movistar Plus+) and Nina Hernández (Content Director, Portocabo), moderated by John Hopewell, international features editor, Variety).

“Rapa” became the best fiction premiere of last season on Movistar Plus+. The plot of the new episodes takes Maite and Tomás to Ferrol, where two unsolved cases will bring them back together. She will enter the Arsenal, a hermetic world rigid by very strict rules, where an officer has disappeared. He will insist on solving a murder case that he is about to prescribe after 20 years.

This police thriller created by Pepe Coira and Fran Araújo, whose filming ended in December, has Rafa Montesinos and Marta Pahissa directing in this second season. Along with Javier Cámara and Mónica López, the cast is completed by, among others, Carlos Blanco, Federico Pérez Rey, Evaristo Calvo, Melania Cruz, Darío Loureiro, Iolanda Muíños, Chisco Amado, Adrián Ríos, Lara Boedo and Fran Lareu.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21

The first images of “Pollos sin cabeza” (Headless Chickens), a series produced by Pokeepsie Films (Banijay Iberia) for HBO Max. The session, moderated by journalist Irene Jiménez, will be attended by Álex de la Iglesia (director, screenwriter and producer, Pokeepsie Films-Banijay Iberia), Carolina Bang (CEO, Pokeepsie Films-Banijay Iberia) and Rodrigo Ruíz-Gallardón (Executive Producer, Pokeepsie Films-Banijay Iberia).

“Headless Chickens” (previously “Monos con pistola”) follows the life of Alberto Martín Ruiz, a former soccer player and current player publicist whom everyone calls “Beto”, who has just established himself by setting up his own representation agency. Beto tries to balance his crazy professional world and his unstable personal life with the help of his girlfriend Sonia, a girl who knows him better than anyone and puts him down to earth. Just when things start to work out, disaster strikes: his strongest player leaves and his girlfriend dumps him.

This comedy, directed by Adolfo Martínez, Secun de la Rosa and Rodrigo Ruiz-Gallardón, stars Hugo Silva, Dafne Fernández, Gorka Otxoa, Óscar Casas, Miguel Ángel Solá and Kira Miró.

Iberseries & Platino Industria in its second edition brought together more than 2,000 professionals from 35 countries, with a program of 300 activities, 130 accredited journalists, 164 projects presented, 36 screenings, 50 buyers and 37 exhibitor stands.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22

Screening of the promo-reel of the European co-production “Esto no es Suecia” (This is not Sweden), a series created by Aina Clotet and Sergi Cameron, under the production of Funicular Films, Nanouk Films and Anagram Sweden for RTVE, TV3, NDR ( Germany), SVT (Sweden), and YLE (Finland). With the support of ICEC (Catalan Institute of Cultural Companies) and MEDIA development grant (UE). The direction of the chapters by Aina Clotet, Mar Coll, Celia Giraldo and Sara Fantova.

After the screening, a conversation moderated by Irene Jiménez, with Marc Clotet (producer, Funicular Films), Marta Baldó (producer, Funicular Films), Sergi Cameron (producer, Nanouk Films), Alberto Fernández (director of Digital Content and Transmedia, RTVE Digital), Gunnar Carlsson (executive producer/senior advisor, Anagram Sweden), Sabine Holtgrave (head of Film, Familie & Serie, NDR) and Jarmo Lampela (head of Drama/Creative Content and Media, YLE).

“This is not Sweden” stars Aina Clotet, Marcel Borràs, Nora Navas, Enric Auquer, Nausicaa Bonnín, Tomás del Estal, Mabel Rivera and the Swedish actresses Ia Langhammer and Liv Mjönes.

The dramatic comedy narrates the contradiction faced by a couple of young parents when it comes to protecting their children from the dangers of life. To educate their daughters from a place far from their respective painful childhoods, Mariana and Samuel go to live in a mountain neighborhood in Barcelona together with a community of people with the same aspirations. But, when a tragedy shakes the neighborhood, Mariana and Samuel’s certainties begin to shake and fear settles in the couple, getting dangerously close to everything they were fleeing from.

Audiovisual from Spain, brings together Spanish companies in the film and television content sector for their international promotion, is an initiative of ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, with the collaboration of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and various public and private organizations.

Iberseries & Platino Industria brings visibility to feature films and series in Spanish and Portuguese, promoting talent and creators, and encourages international co-production and content marketing. Its third edition from October 3 to 6, 2023 at Matadero Madrid, promoted by EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya, in collaboration with FIPCA, and the support of the Madrid City Council, the Community of Madrid and ICEX Spain.
