RTVE from Spain and RTP from Portugal take the first co-production “SEQUÍA” to Latin America

AMC Networks International Latin America closes an agreement for the first series co-produced between the public television channels of Spain and Portugal through the ‘Europa Europa’ channel.

The two public channels, together with the production companies, Atlantia Media and Coral Europa, joined forces for this production shot in natural settings in Madrid, Extremadura and Lisbon. With ingredients of love, ambition, betrayal, greed and an unsolved crime. It stars Elena Rivera, Rodolfo Sancho, Marco D’Almeida, Miryam Gallego and Miguel Ángel Muñoz.

THE STORY. The prolonged drought causes the Campomediano reservoir, on the border between Spain and Portugal, to dry up and the town that was flooded after its construction emerges. But there is a macabre discovery: two mummified corpses with bullet wounds. Inspector Daniela Yanes and investigative journalist Óscar Santos suspect that the bodies could be related to environmental protests that sought to prevent the creation of the reservoir. One of the dead could be the heir to the Souza Cardoso fortune, who disappeared years ago.

The series features two influential families from Spain and Portugal. In the middle of the two worlds, the Spanish and Portuguese police try to unravel the truth.

It is a thriller mixed with ‘family noir’ and seeks to reach the viewer directly not because of the plot but because of the “emotional journey” of its protagonists.
