JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, said in a statement that they delayed the launch of the platform “to make sure we get it right.” MAX relaunched its brand on the occasion of the merger between Discovery and HBO Max.
In the statement, Warner Bros. Discovery explained that the merger of both assets will offer consumers a wide variety of high-quality entertainment for all ages, in all genres and formats.
Latin America is the first international objective of the platform, then there are Europe and Asia-Pacific, as planned. The statement does not explain how the delay in Latin America will impact the rest of the launches nor what the subscription value will be.
But we know that in the United States, the plan with advertising is priced at US$ 9.99 per month and US$ 15.99 for the plan without advertising and US$ 19.99 for the Ultimate Plan, which adds two simultaneous views, plus downloads offline and better image and sound quality.
This is verbatim what CEO JB Perrette said, “We have to launch it in the rest of the world, including Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, where we were originally going to do it later this year. But to make sure we do it right, We are going to delay our arrival in Latin America until the first quarter of next year,” said the Senior Executive forcefully.
