Canal Once, Mexico’s public broadcasting network owned by the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, inspires viewers to explore all that Mexico offers in its new series, “Viajar para contar,” hosted by Miguel Conde (“La ruta del sabor”) and premiering Friday, October 16, at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT.

Promoting the idea that traveling not only educates but also creates incredible memories to share throughout a lifetime, “Viajar para contar” brings the picturesque locations of Mexico to life on the small screen, while introducing viewers to the magnificent cultures, colorful costumes, savory cuisine and rich history infused in seemingly every city, town and village of the country.

Unlike typical travel series, however, Conde explores affordable and often overlooked locations like Catemaco, Tlaxcala, Taxco, Cholula, Chignahuapan, El Oro, Real del Monte, San Miguel de Allende, San Juan del Río, Ixmiquilpan and Tlalpujahua, demonstrating the ease with which anyone—regardless of age, gender or socio-economic level—can enjoy all that these settings offer without spending a lot of travel time or money.

During the first season’s 18 episodes, produced by Canal Once from Mexico, Conde shares his own experiences and offers opinions on where to stay, what to eat and things to during a brief visit. Of course, as your travel guide, Conde also includes the most famous local activities and ‘must see’ attractions that each place offers.

“‘Viajar para contar’ is, more than anything, a small traveler’s guide. It is about short trips that are available to anyone. These are trips where you drive less than two hours, taking Mexico City as your starting point,” explains Conde.  “I also greatly appreciate the local guides who help us find the best markets and eateries… people who are so proud of their towns that they eagerly open their homes to us and share their stories, anecdotes and hidden treasures that make these places so compelling to visit.”

“Viajar para contar” airs on Canal Once’s international signal beginning today, Friday October 16th at 6:30 p.m. PT/9:30 p.m. ET.
