The Spanish-Argentine series ‘El grito de las mariposas’ is being filmed in Colombia

Starring Susana Abaitua, Sandy Hernández, and Luis Alberto García and will be seen on Star +.

Set in the 50s and 60s during the dictatorship of dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo in the Dominican Republic and is being filmed in Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta, and other locations in the Colombian Caribbean.

It is the first project of the alliance between the Spanish companies Filmax and Gloriamundi Producciones and it is a co-production led from Spain by Gloriamundi Producciones, S.L.U., Tandem Films and Debut y Despedida, A.I.E. together with Mediabyte, S.R.L. And in Argentina the producer PAMPA of Pablo E. Bossi. The producers are Agustín Bossi, Pol Bossi, Cristina Zumárraga and Eva Cebrián along with Juan Pablo Buscaini as Showruner.

The fiction series will be seen on Star +, the new subscription streaming service, and will arrive in Latin America on August 31 through The Walt Disney Company Latin America.

The 13 chapters tell the story of the young Spanish immigrant Arantxa Oyamburu (Susana Abaitua) and the Dominican idealist Minerva Mirabal (Sandy Hernández), between whom an indestructible friendship will emerge that will force them to face the dictatorship of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo with a tragic end.

The Spanish Inés París will be in the direction, along with the Argentines Leandro Ipiña and Mariano Hueter. The artistic talent includes the Spanish Néstor Calvo in the photography direction and Jorge Garrigós responsible for the direct sound. The locations are Bogotá and mainly Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta, and other settings in the Colombian Caribbean.
