From November 13 to 16, in Cancun, Mexico, a new and vibrant edition was held with the participation of more than 40 countries and TVMAS was present.

At the Moon Palace hotel, the traditional television market for Latin America organized by RX shone with its own light, bringing great opportunities for the industry in this region.

After a complicated 2021 in which most of the attendees found it difficult to attend Cancun during the health crisis and travel restrictions, among them, TVMAS, this year we returned to cover the market with its classic meetings of one-on-one matchmaking, designed to connect distributors with buyers and producers with commissioners in pre-scheduled meetings.

Varied and important conferences and events offered a range of new releases and content offerings during its three and a half days. More than 30 sessions with keynotes, showcases and screenings, a large networking space, a showroom with service providers and parties sponsored by important brands such as The Media Pro that offered the opening party.

Thus, the event closed its 9th edition with an 83% increase in attendance compared to 2021 and RX announces the return from November 13 to 16, 2023 to celebrate the TENTH ANNIVERSARY of the established distribution and co-production market in LATAM for Latin America and Hispanic television in the United States.

According to the organizers and based on comments from the participants and the MIP CANCUN advisory committee (Marcelo Tamburri, WarnerMedia Latin America; Ana Celia Urquidi, Atenea Media; Ana Piñeres, CMO Producciones; Ignacio Barrera, ProducTVty; Francisco Morales, Amazon Prime Video; Ezequiel Martin Olzanski, EO Media; Tiago Mello, Boutique Filmes), MIP CANCUN 2023 will expand its scope.

Lucy Smith

Lucy Smith, RX France Entertainment Division Director, said: “This event is more than a marketplace, it is a community that has been 9 years in the making. And most importantly, Cancun continues to be the preferred destination in the Americas for our annual Latin American market and the third week of November is the most suitable date each year. Also that Mexico is now the #1 production center in the Americas for content in Spanish where all the main entertainment studios have a presence and that the MIP CANCUN format is unrepeatable as the 4 most productive days that define the coming year.”

Maria Perez-Bellière

The director of MIP CANCUN, Maria Perez-Bellière added: “MIP CANCUN has once again been the unavoidable meeting point for all those who do business worldwide in the US Hispanic and Latin American television industry. As an Ecuadorian was satisfying to realize that we all felt like being at home. This experience gives us the opportunity to repeat it at the next meeting through which MIP CANCUN will continue to be their home to boost their businesses, their creativity, and their dreams.”

So the invitation is to see us at MIP TV 2023, then at MIPCOM and we will close the year at MIP Cancún. | TVMAS newsroom
