“How the role of women is reflected in the media, in series or in movies is a much more effective tool than political speeches. And that is in the hands of many women”.

Mar, studied political science and sociology and has a degree in information science and journalism. She has been manager of the international channel ANTENA 3, program director and news editor.

“These questions from TVMAS are deep-seated; but I will try to give simple and brief answers”. That’s how she answered our questions that we’ve customized for each guest in this SPECIAL REPORT spotlighting the bright, determined and powerful women in the industry.

“The main challenge, as for any person, is the daily work. I have never considered if there was something I could o could not do because I was a woman, nor if I had to fight a position with anyone (man or woman). Perhaps because of my character, I confess that I am not very competitive”.

Mar studied political science and sociology and has a degree in information science and journalism. She has been manager of the Antena 3, international channel, also program director and news director. “My achievements are the product of that drop by drop, of permanent learning, and I think that of the rigor with which I try to do things. And, of course, having taken advantage of the opportunities that life has opened for me, and I have faced with certain amount of courage”.

How do you analyze the acces of women to the nuclei of power? Dou you think that machismo persists and is evident in the roles and salaries of “his and hers”?

“It seems that reality is stubborn and there are fewer women than men in dicision-making positions, be it in the social, political, economic, or business spheres…. But, everything is a process and if we look back, for example, twenty or thirty years ago, the change in the number of women workers and in intermediate positions has been very evident. This, soner rather than later, will end up leading women in all sector and areas to the nuclei of power”.

As a promoter of the content industry and the audiovisual sector, what are te uncertainties of women in the face of empowerment? Especially in a changing and highly competitive world….

“I firmly believe that the audiovisual media and the entertainment industry in general have a fundamental role in the social change necessary to achieve the desirable levels of equality. How the role of women is reflected in the media, in series or in movies can be much more effective tool than political speeches. And that is in the hands of many women. It is also our responsability”.
