He detailed that he did not adequately disclose his involvement in facilitating a loan guarantee for former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Richard became Chairman of the BBC in February 2021. As Chairman of the BBC Board of Directors, he has overseen the maintenance and protection of the BBC’s independence and has ensured that the BBC fulfills its mission to report, educate and entertain.
Sharp resigned on April 28 after a report found he twice violated the rules governing public appointments. He said that he will remain in the position to “prioritize the interests of the BBC” and specified that he will remain in his position until the end of June, while the process to appoint his successor takes place.
