The MovieMedia report that interprets the CINETEL data, says “The factors that contribute to this growth in moviegoers are the availability of attractive movies, the immersive experience offered by modern movie technology.”

The first quarter of 2023 saw a 53% increase in tickets, compared to the same period of 2022, while the second quarter increased by 56%. Italian cinemas register an increase in viewers of close to 600,000 in the first months of 2023 compared to 2019, according to an official statement from the MovieMedia advertising agency.

The distributed statement states that “This testifies to the public’s renewed enthusiasm for going to the movies, with an increase in tickets that we have not seen in years.”

Specifically, according to MovieMedia’s interpretation of the Cinetel data, almost 4,589,926 admissions were registered, compared to 3,993,717 in 2019. He also explains that, in recent months, “the public that has attended theaters has been made up mostly of younger viewers, demonstrating a renewed interest on the part of the new generations to experience cinema on the big screen.”

High-budget action films, romantic comedies and fantasy productions stand out as the most popular among these young viewers.
